Winter is a great time to repair tails and encourage tail growth. Diet is important but so is keeping the tail clean and conditioned.
It all starts with a healthy tail bone (photo 1). Dry, flaky or waxy skin on the tail bone can be itchy and uncomfortable, leading to tail rubbing and hair loss. Use CitraFoam Shampoo (photo 2) and thoroughly wash the tail bone then wash the entire tail. Rinse VERY WELL!!!! CitraFoam Shampoo is sulfate free and has a moisturizing formula to relieve dry skin, dander, and dandruff. Next use CitraCreme Conditioner (photo 3) which is a rinse out conditioner designed to improve dry, brittle tails and make hair soft and resilient in order to avoid breakage. Once the tail is dry (photo 4) apply Gleam (photo 5 ). This weightless serum does not attract dust or dirt and softens the hair to help prevent breakage. An added benefit is that it also deodorizes. Finally, braid the tail. Braiding helps to keep the tail from breaking (photos 6-7). We prefer this method over tail bags and tying up tails. Bags have pitfalls; some horses try to rub off the bags, some pasture mates try to chew them and many times, tails become matted and tangled when kept in a bag. We have used the braid method for 40 + years with great results! Undo the tail braids at least every 2-3 weeks, brush out the tail, recondition with Gleam then re-braid. We offer samples of CitraFoam, CitraCreme and Gleam for $2.00 each + postage. You'll probably want an entire bottle of Gleam though; that will last all winter and well into show season. Gleam is $20 for an 8 oz. bottle. Be sure to take before pictures now and then pictures at the end of the winter - we'd love to showcase them on our web site and Facebook page!

Using Gleam in the mane and tail will keep hair healthy and promote growth throughout the winter.
Shine is perfect for currying into the coat - you'll be amazed at the spring coat that comes in after using Shine all winter Both products contain a deodorizer - your horse AND barn will smell wonderful! We had fun with another spa day. This time for 27 year old Justin. He loved his bath - and since it was very hot out, we loved getting wet too! Right after his spa day it stormed so we did not get an after picture until the sun came back out. And that was 2 days later after he got rained on and rolled in the dirt - more than once! Look how great he looks! We'll do our best to come to your boarding barn and do a spa day for your horse too - contact us to make arrangements.
A bath with CFS followed by Rehydrinse will keep your horse shinier and cleaner for the entire show! Sweat marks easily brush out and dust and dirt brush off easily. Place an order today or, if you are in the Meatmora area, pick up your products at Hidden Rock Acres Farm ~ 2585 E. Brocker Rd.
It's still a little chilly for a bath so as your horse is shedding be sure to curry in some Shine to promote hair health with each application. Combined with natural benefits from Camelina Oil, Vitamin C and E, hair is boosted with anti-oxidants and primed to be smooth and soft.
We will be doing a tail hair growth series with the EquiFUSE Mane and Tail System over the next few months so stay tuned for the fun pictures and updates! The days are getting longer and the horses are shedding. For your best spring and summer coat ever, shed with Shine! After using a shedder, we like to curry Shine into the coat. The fast drying and non-greasy formula leaves hair clean and deodorized and best of all - shiny. Combined with the natural benefits from Camelina Oil, Vitamin C and E, hair is boosted with anti-oxidants and primed to be smooth and soft. And don't forget to use Gleam for the mane and tail!
Shine is the newest product in the EquiFUSE line and we're loving it! It works great on manure and urine stains. It cleans, shines and deodorizes.
This is Flytir - he's an Icelandic horse. He has just been begging to be a Cover Boy for EquiFUSE products so here he is in his before and after picture. If your horses or ponies want to be models too, let me know. I'd love to send you a Body Pak to try.
Who says a white tail doesn't shine? Check out this tail! Shine spray is the newest product in the EquiFUSE product line and we are loving it! It is not silicone based - it is infused with oils so it's good for the mane, tail and coat.
I just love fall sunrises when the sun is on the tops of the trees making them gleam and shine. Make your horses gleam and shine too with EquiFUSE products! "Gleam" and "Shine" are great products when temperatures make bathing impossible. Both products are good for the hair and coat and bring out the natural oils.
