Trial Bit Information and Policies
How many bits do you own? For each horse?
Have you ever bought a bit, thought it was going to be the perfect bit for your horse and then you end up adding it to your collection of bits that you will probably never use? You are not alone!
Fitting a Bit - Every horse is different!
A bit that works for one horse might be ineffective for another, even within the same discipline. Horses respond to pressure in their mouth, and bits can apply that pressure in different areas--the bars of their mouth, which are the gaps between the incisors and molars, the tongue, and even the roof of the mouth. Every horse has different sensitivities in each of those areas.
Choosing a specific bit for a specific horse is part science and a large part art. A veterinarian, during an oral exam, can make recommendations about how to accommodate things like a low palate or a very large tongue or a horse that has excessive loose soft tissue. Quiet hands coupled with good use of seat and legs yield the best response, no matter what type of bit is used. But the bottom line is that each horse is an individual and may not respond the way we think he should to a given bit choice.(thehorse.com/bitting problems and your horse)
The Solution
At Equifit we believe that you and your horse should have the opportunity to try a bit before you buy it. Our "Trial Bit" program is designed for just that purpose - you get to try a bit for 30 days before you buy it!
Policies
The trial period price on bits is related to the retail price. "Trial Bit" final sale prices are also different than bits that are sold without a trial period because "Trial Bits" may have been used previously and therefore are not always brand new.
Not all bits that we sell are offered as "Trial Bits" due to the fact that some bits are not resistant to wear and tear (e.g. plastic bits, rubber bits).
The bit(s) shall remain the property of Equifit Bit Store for the 30 day trial period and will continue to be the property of Equifit Bit Store until the customer's account is debited for the rest of the value of the bit(s), then the bit(s) shall become the property of the customer.
Please take care of the bit(s). It is the customer's responsibility to make sure that the bit(s) is/are kept in good condition throughout the trial period until the final value is paid or the bit(s) is/are returned. The customer is also responsible that the bit(s) is/are kept safe from theft and loss. If you cannot return the bit(s) within the trial period, then your credit/debit card will be debited with the final value.
The "Trial Bit" offer is only available in the continental US. Please note, it can take 3-5 working days from receipt of order to ship orders. The 30 day trial period will start from the date that Equifit ships the bit. This date will be on the package. The return date that the bit(s) must reach Equifit will be included in the "Return Shipping Instructions" included with the bit(s). This will be approximately 30 days after the shipping date. Holidays will be taken into account.
If the bit is not returned by the specified date in the "Return Shipping Instructions", then the account used to pay for the trial period will be automatically debited with the remaining value.
All bits in the "Trial Bit" program are thoroughly sanitized immediately upon return before going back into inventory. Protocol followed is as follows: Bits are cleaned with Nolvasan and water, then they are immersed in a 10-to-1 ratio of water to household bleach. After 10 to 30 minutes they are thoroughly rinsed off and dried.
